So I decided to take a summer Humanities class and at first I was kind of dreading taking a class during summer, but after the first assignment I am actually somewhat excited. The first chapter had to do with "The Infinite Person" The infinite person is basically someone who is all around a good person, and someone who always strives for more in life. I feel like someone being an infinite person is quite rare these days... as the world has changed in different ways, meaning things are not the same as when the infinite person was first thought of. The textbook describes the infinite person as someone who does no crime against humanity, is not preoccupied with self and its immediate needs, they are free of prejudice and never works consciously to restrict others from exercising their right to assemble, speak their minds openly, practice their own religion, etc. The last thing the textbook states about the infinite person is a person who never jumps to conclusions, therefore looking at all sides of an issue before making a judgement, and is always willing to reconsider in the light of new data. The idea of an infinite person interests me so much because I believe if everyone followed these different traits, the world would be a better place as a whole... These different traits are extremely important in life and really made me think about several people and ways to improve myself. I decided to share this information in hopes of causing other people to think deeper on these different things... (sorry I just went all nerd and talked about something I'm learning about haha) A quote from the book I really love is, "The example of Leonardo da Vinci suggests that, while few may hope to approach his genius, all of us can do more with our lives than we are doing at this very moment. There are so many books to read, so much music to hear, so many plays to see, so many great films to view." (The Art Of Being Human, pg. 13) I love this idea a lot, because it is so true. We all get bored of things sometimes, and now I wonder how and why. You create your own boredom, as there are so many things you can do, places to visits, and things you can try. Whether it is learning something new or going out to do something, there is endless knowledge you can gain in the world from quite frankly anything. (Just thought I would mention I am blogging about chapter one rather than doing my next assignment that is due soon oops)
